Magneto-Rheological Clutch

MRC Design

The magneto-rheological torque (TMR) of MRC è estimated at the design stage based on the geometrical configuration and the proprieties of the magneto-rheological fluid

Magneto – Rheological Clutch Types
MRC – CT vs. MRC – DCM

Magneto-Rheological Clutch Cylindrical Type (MRC – CT) –> Designed & Tested in TE project coordinated by A.I. Bosioc:

Magneto-Rheological Clutch – Disk Modular Construction (MRC – DCM) –> Designed & Tested in 723PED2022 project:

The main parts of the MRC device are following:

  • (1) magneto-rheological fluid (MRF) à operating under high temperature range conditions
  • (2) magnetic circuit including the coil and magnetic house

The disc-type MRC –> the most common design

  • (i) easy to manufacture and
  • (ii) leads to reasonably good results in terms of weight and compactness
